Kate Thomas

Lifestyle Managing Editor

With 13 years of entertainment journalism under my belt, I am passionate about all things celebrity and lifestyle and am committed to HELLO!'s mission to shine a positive light in an often negative media landscape.

I joined the HELLO! Online team in 2020 at the height of the pandemic and have since successfully spearheaded traffic growth across Lifestyle's eight verticals: Fashion, Beauty, Parenting, Weddings, Health &Fitness, Food, and Travel. Responsible for the output of all sections, my daily duties include overseeing and editing content across all eight verticals, managing the team, commissioning features, and forward planning.

During my tenure as Lifestyle Managing Editor, I have proudly seen our output elevated and the team double in size as we bring readers the latest lifestyle news, often with a celebrity or a royal hook. A major focus has been community building and content diversifying; launching section newsletters including HELLO! Homes and Bride Guide, and planning special projects ranging from Happiness content to financial empowerment franchise Invest In You.

A showbiz sleuth at heart, I began my career in TV working on the French and English language Culture shows at FRANCE 24 in Paris, where I booked celebrity guests including Jared Leto and helped the presenters prep for interviews – before deciding I'd quite like to do it for myself. As a Writer and later Fashion & Beauty Editor at BANG Showbiz, I interviewed the TOWIE and MIC cast on a weekly basis and secured major scoops from the likes of Hugh Grant and Helena Bonham Carter at glitzy film premieres and late-night parties.

Seeking national experience, I moved to the MailOnline's busy showbiz desk where I worked my way up to Assistant Showbusiness Editor, covering all the latest breaking news and events. I handed legally contentious breaking news ranging from celebrity deaths to divorces, ran the desk during major events including the BAFTAs, BRITs and Oscars, and learnt how to maximise traffic by managing the infamous sidebar.

Outside of work, you can find me enjoying hot yoga or spinning classes, trying London's best restaurants and cocktail bars, and planning my next holiday.
