Carole, 57, was resplendent in a traffic-stopping red dress that resembled the scarlet Alexander McQueen number Kate wore to wow the crowds at the Jubilee Thames River Pageant. But the midi hemline was more demure than her daughter's version which showed off her endless legs.Riding in her horse-drawn carriage, which also carried two liveried footmen, was her husband Michael as well as Ronald Arculli, the president of the Hong Kong Jockey Club, and his wife Joanne. The air stewardess-turned-millionaire businesswoman had been invited by Her Majesty and Prince Philip for Ladies Day, the most prestigious occasion during the five-day meet.

Also attending were Princesses Beatrice – who arrived with Princess Anne –  and Eugenie.Beatrice was white hot in an ivory outfit spiced up with flashes of fire-engine red in the form of intricate flowers that adorned both her Erdem dress and her stunning headpiece.Eugenie went for a pared-down look in a simple pale pink Paula Ka dress with black embellishments and a Stephen Jones hat.Like the royal family, Kate's mother takes a keen interest in equestrian sports and is part of the eight-strong Pangfield Racing syndicate that owns a race horse called Sohraab. David Cameron's mother, Mary is also one of the owners.
