Virgin River is beloved on Netflix not just for its easy-watching and heartwarming content, but for its lead star Alexandra Breckenridge.

The actress, 39, has played the lead character Melinda Monroe since it began in 2019 and is also known for her roles in popular titles The Walking Dead and This Is Us.

It seems that, for Alexandra, talent runs in her family as her uncle, Michael Weatherly is also an actor and has had many roles in different TV shows.
The 53-year-old is perhaps best-known for his long-running role on popular crime series NCIS as Anthony DiNozzo, which he held from 2003 until 2016. Michael has also had stints on other shows such as Dark Angel and CBS drama Bull.
Alexandra, meanwhile, has also enjoyed success in acting away from her work in Virgin River. Her breakout roles came in the early 2000s when she appeared in popular teen movies such as Big Fat Liar and She's The Man.

In the world of TV, Alexandra then began appearing in FX series Dirt and American Horror Story, before landing a part on The Walking Dead as Jessie Anderson. In 2017, she began appearing regularly in hugely popular NBC drama This Is Us, as Sophie.
More recently, the actress is known and adored for playing midwife Melinda Monroe in Virgin River which recently returned for its third season and finished filming for its fourth.
However, Alexandra shared some bad news with her fans in recent times, as she revealed that filming for season five had been halted for undisclosed reasons. Speaking candidly to her 800,000 followers on an Instagram Live, she admitted: "We were supposed to start [filming season five] in March, but it was pushed so… I don't know.
"I don't know man. I'm hoping that maybe we'll start in the summer. It would be nice to film in Vancouver in the summer rather than the winter."
