Tom Hiddleston has suggested that he won't be the new James Bond despite huge fan support for the actor to be seen playing the iconic spy. The star opened up about the casting at the Wizard World Comic Con, telling the crowd: "I don't think that announcement is coming."

The Thor actor, who had previously been enthusiastic about the possibility of taking over the role of 007 from Daniel Craig, calling it an "extraordinary opportunity" if it "ever came knocking" said: "I am very gratified to hear the enthusiasm. Your guess is as good as mine, to be honest."

Tom revealed that he probably won't be playing Bond

Fans of the star have been quick to voice their disappointment, with one tweeting: "Noooooooo! This is horrible news, after his role in the @NightManagerAMC I thought he was perfect," while another wrote: "Say it isn't so. We want this to happen. Become the James Bond you were meant to be."

Although it is yet to be confirmed that Daniel is definitely stepping down from the role, it has been reported that Jamie Bell is in talks to play the new Bond after meeting with boss Barbara Broccoli and film producers to discuss the role. An insider told The Sun: "Barbara has been a fan of Jamie for a long time and has even thought about him playing another role in the franchise before.

WHO WILL PLAY THE NEXT JAMES BOND?

Everyone remembers Jamie as the little boy in Billy Elliot, but he's now got some serious roles under his belt."

Idris Elba is also a hugely popular choice for the role, but the Luther actor has revealed that he has yet to be approached for the role. He told Us Weekly: "It's all rumour-ville. I'm not speaking to the James Bond people, and they're not speaking to me."
