Victoria Beckham is better known as pop starlet than hip-hop icon, but the former Spice Girl's latest venture looks set to make her just that. For Victoria has signed up to become the face of Rocawear, America's largest hip-hop clothing label.

She is currently in the US for a photoshoot to promote the company's baggy tops, trainers and tracksuits and the pictures will seen on billboards all across North America, including New York's legendary Time Square.

The deal came after Victoria met rap guru Damon Dash and performer Jay-Z at a party. The three talked about musical collaborations for her new album, but eventually Damon decided she would be the perfect model for Rocawear.

"She met Damon when she was last in New York," said a source close to the Beckhams. "She was delighted when he asked her to be the new face of their clothing range. Victoria is in New York now preparing for a shoot and she will launch the campaign in both America and Britain in the summer."

And Damon seems just as pleased to be working with her. "She's beautiful," he said. "Victoria embodies everything Rocawear is on an international level, from music to fashion, she is incredible.
