Ed Sheeran is back on the market. The 24-year-old confirmed that he has split from his girlfriend Athina Andrelos after almost a year of dating during an Australian radio interview on Thursday.
"I wasn't single, I was in a relationship for a long time," Ed said when questioned about his relationship status on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on KIIS 1065.
The Thinking Out Loud singer went on to confirm that he was single when he was pressed on the matter by DJ Kyle Sandilands.
Ed reportedly looked shocked that he had been asked the question, leading Kyle's co-host Jackie O to say: "He looks like he's about to start crying – you shouldn't have asked that."
The singer added: "Erm… well that's interesting, that's the first time I've spoken about that," before telling Kyle, "I didn't know you were going to ask."
Ed had been dating Athina, who works as a Food Team production assistant at The Jamie Oliver Group, since early 2014. The couple reported decided to call time on their relationship in February after struggling to cope with Ed's busy schedule and the attention he received from female fans.

Greek-born Athina often shared pictures of the happy couple together on Instagram, and most recently helped Ed to celebrate his 24th birthday with a fun party which saw them both dressed in inflatable sumo wrestler suits.
Ed was so smitten with the 23-year-old that he previously revealed she inspired his number one single Thinking Out Loud.
However he has no time to mope following the split; Ed is currently on tour in Australia and busy working on other projects, which included testing out his acting skills by filming a cameo in Home and Away on Tuesday.
The flame-haired singer also surprised two of his Australian fans by showing up as their "mystery wedding singer" after hearing that they had chosen one of his songs for the first dance at their wedding.
