Star DJ Fatboy Slim obviously hasn't forgotten what the spirit of Christmas is really all about. The 43-year-old came to the rescue of a couple who had broken down near his house in Brighton, even inviting them into the luxury home he shares with wife Zoe Ball.

"It was a very cold day," explained Malcolm Fuller after his encounter with the celebrity couple. "Norman drove past us and could see that we were in trouble. He stopped and opened the back door of his BMW and said 'hop in and warm yourselves up a bit'."

The renowned musician then drove them up to his house, where Zoe was celebrating with several of their relatives, so that they could wait in comfort for a recovery vehicle to arrive. "We were ever so grateful," he said. "We went into the living room where virtually the whole family were gathered for a post-Christmas get-together. We met his mum and dad - we felt very honoured and privileged. Zoe wouldn't let us go until she was sure we were good and warm and the AA van had turned up."

Malcolm's wife Linda was equally amazed by her unexpected brush with celebrity. "He's quite simply the nicest man I've ever met," she said. "I was overwhelmed when Zoe offered me a mince pie. We even met little Woody, their son - they're a lovely family."

Their saviour brushed off his act of gallantry with characteristic humility, though. "It's Christmas - anyone would do the same," he said.
