It’s the question that has been bugging Loose Women viewers since the start of the year – why has panellist Nadia Sawalha been wearing the exact same animal print top every time she has appeared on the show? Now, the 52-year-old has revealed all.

Speaking on Tuesday's programme, Nadia explained: "All this started when we had Judge Rinder on, and he told us backstage he's worn exactly the same outfit for every interview he's ever done on television and nobody's noticed. We were saying that would never happen for us. It seems so important what we wear. So we said, let's do a little experiment."

Nadia Sawalha has finally revealed why she has been wearing the same top every day

The star said she had decided to come clean after speculation reached fever pitch – revealing that one fan had even messaged to ask if she was pregnant. "Some of them got really cross and all the guessing has been hilarious – someone DM'd me on Friday and said, 'I've worked it out Nadia, you're expecting a beautiful new one, aren't you?!'"

The mum-of-two continued: "We were going to do it for longer than this, but because people were getting upset with us, because we do reveal the inner workings of everything, they couldn't understand why we weren't telling them what was going on with the shirt."

The star revealed it had been an 'experiment' to see if viewers would notice

Of wearing the animal print Wallis blouse every day, Nadia added: "I have loved it. It's been like going back to school uniform days where it doesn't just matter. I just put it on, it's really comfortable. I'll be sad to see it go today!”

But that wasn't quite the end of the infamous leopard print garment; each of Tuesday's panellists, Ruth Langsford, Jane Moore and Penny Lancaster, changed into an identical top during every advert break in a show of support for Nadia's wardrobe experiment.
