Julia Roberts told audiences how pleased she is that friend George Clooney is engaged, calling the news "sublime".

Speaking of George's fiancée Amal Alamuddin, Julia called her "beautiful and smart" and revealed that George is "happy", before adding: "That's what matters to me."

Julia and George were co-stars in the 2001 hit film Ocean's Eleven, and went on to star in the sequel together as well.

The 46-year-old Oscar winning actress also spoke to Ellen DeGeneres on her chat show about her tattoos and Ellen's stint hosting the Oscars in March.

When Ellen questioned Julia on whether she had any body art, Julia replied with: "Yes, I have few. Aren't you just rethinking me completely right now?",  as the audience laughed.

She then revealed that she could show some of the tattoos and others she couldn't, adding: "Well, some things I can tell you the answer to and some things I'll tell you later", before admitting that she had her children's names and her husband, Daniel Moder's, initials.

Julia married cameraman Daniel Moder in 2002, and they have three children, 10-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, as well as six-year-old Henry.

Julia revealed that she and Daniel had each other's initials tattooed before they were married, saying: "Well, you know actually it was… we were brave or idiotic because it was before we got married."

Later in the show Ellen and Julia decided to play a prank on  Edgar the pizza guy, who became famous in March when Ellen called his pizza company and asked him to deliver pizzas to the audience of the Oscars ceremony. When Edgar walked out on stage, he admitted that Julia, who he served at the ceremony, was one of his favourite actresses - and Julia then surprised him by calmly walking up behind him and asking for some pizza.

His shocked face won Julia over, who gave him a big hug before Edgar kissed her hand. Julia said: "What a sweet, sweet, sweet reaction!"
