The Costa Christmas cups are finally here! And say hello to the new Terry's Chocolate Orange Muffin...

Costa are pulling out all the stops this Christmas

Harriet Keane

Everyone knows that Costa Christmas cups signify the start of Christmas, right? Well, start writing up your Christmas lists ladies and gentlemen because the new Costa Christmas cups have landed along with a whole load of other tasty Christmas goodies. This year the cups represent 'Togetherness' and feature two new adorable bear characters as well as all the other much-loved favourites; the snowmen, penguins and the man of the hour, Father Christmas.

Possibly the most exciting new addition to the winter menu is Costa's new Terry's Chocolate Orange Muffin. Sure to rival Costa's viral Lotus muffin, this melt-in-your-mouth sweet treat is pumped full of chocolate orange sauce and of course, topped with a Terry's Chocolate Orange segment - thank you, Chocolate chocolate gods.

Oh, and Costa's new Christmas drink is arguably one of its best so far, Baileys fans you're going to LOVE this… Introducing the Irish Velvet flavour. Although you could easily be fooled by its taste that it is a boozy tipple, the Irish cream flavour is actually 100% alcohol-free, so the only buzz you'll be getting with this drink is a sugar rush from the hints of caramel and vanilla or a caffeine high if you so choose! Served as a latte, cappuccino and Frostino, non-coffee lovers can also enjoy the new flavour as a Velvet Hot-Chocolate - and no worries, you will be able to get the flavour on-the-go at selected Costa Express machines!

Sweet drinks not your bag? No worries! Costa has literally spiced up the classic cappuccino with its new Festive Spiced Cappuccino. Adding all the festive spices from cinnamon to nutmeg and star anise, this is the ideal festive cup of Joe for those who still want the strong aroma of coffee to hit their tastebuds. Oh and do not miss out on the Pigs in Blankets Mac 'n' Cheese which is sure to be a customer lunchtime favourite in the colder winter months!

As if we needed another reason to justify our coffee and sugar addictions, Costa also released three new festive themed drinks and five new sweet treats for us to indulge in earlier this month. With these AND all the other festive delights the Christmas period promises to bring, be sure to have your stretchy jeans at the ready, people!

First, we have the return of the classic and ever so popular, Gingerbread Latte. Who could forget when Costa released these bad boys accompanied with an actual miniature gingerbread man? Everyone lost it! One word, iconic. There will also be the return of the Gingerbread Hot Chocolate - everyone knows it's not a festive menu without some mention of Gingerbread.

Then we have the Black Forest and Cream Hot Chocolate. This is one for those with who love a sweet treat but not too much of it. Still holding all the indulgence of a typical creamy hot chocolate this hot beverage also comes equipped with a cheeky hit of tart cherry sauce to balance its sweet factor - the best of both worlds!

And last but by no means least, there's the drink all sweet-toothed lovers have been waiting for, the Hazelnut Praline Latte and the Hazelnut Praline Hot Chocolate. As deliciously sweet as they sound, both hot beverages come with a layer of chocolate, a sweet hazelnut syrup, whipped cream and a topping of chocolate-covered toffee bits… milkshake or coffee? You decide.

OTHER: Fortnum & Mason has created an amazing £1,500 chocolate hamper and WOW!

And what's a coffee menu without an accompanying snack? You may have seen people going crazy on Instagram over the Lotus Biscoff Muffin - you may have even been one of those people and for good reason. Collaborating with Costa, the popular biscuit brand has created a muffin of dreams. With a spiced sponge and creamy Biscoff spread centre, topped with toffee icing AND a full-sized Biscoff biscuit, this muffin is set to be the no1 crowd pleaser.

There is also a Vegan Chocolate, Caramel and Hazelnut Cookie, a Chocolate & Caramel Bun and a Seriously Chocolate Cake, for those who need more of a chocolate fix. And don't worry, if sweet treats just aren't your bag, Costa will also be extending the hours of their £4.95 lunchtime deal which boasts an array of sandwiches, paninis and soups with an accompanying snack and drink from 11 am till close. Basically, Costa is the place to be the winter - see you there!

The Autumnal treats will be available in Costa Coffee stores nationwide from 1st October 2019 and the Limited-Edition Christmas menu will be available in stores nationwide from Friday 1st November 2019.
