James Blunt and wife Sofia Wellesley attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, something that was expected seeing as the musician and the royal have been friends for years and have also served in the Army together. While many fans still questioned his attendance, others were taken aback by his gorgeous plus one, his wife of four years, Sofia Wellesley.

The couple, who have a son together, were in Windsor for the big royal wedding, but back in 2014, they celebrated their very own big day – twice! James and Sofia, the daughter of Lord and Lady John Henry Wellesley, and grand-daughter of the eighth Duke of Wellington, tied the knot in a private ceremony at a London registry office on 5 September. Later, on the 19 September, they flew to Majorca, where Sofia's parents have a family home, and celebrated their wedding in front of close family and friends.

Sofia, 34, and the singer, 44, had been dating since 2012. The duo became engaged in 2013. In an interview with the Mail, the singer opened up about their romance, saying: "It takes a strong person to be able to deal with somebody working in music. It's hard when you're with somebody and you become embroiled in something just because you were seen standing next to someone else."

He continued, "It takes a tough person to deal with that and I'm lucky to have her."

The couple welcomed their first child together, a son, in 2016. Although they have not revealed his name, singer Ed Sheeran confirmed to The Sun that he was the godfather. Ed said: "James is like a brother to me, actually I’m not quite sure if I can say this, but I’m going to — he's just made me godfather to his son."

He added: "To be honest, I think he's only done it because he knows I've got a good idea of what sort of person he'd want him to be when he grows up — an absolute lad. We’re going to be brothers for life."

Sofia graduated from law school at the prestigious Edinburgh University and currently works at a successful London-based law firm. In 2016 she was appointed to the board of Cherie’s legal consultancy, Omnia Strategy. Back then, Daily Mail revealed that documents filed at Companies' House give the blonde law graduate’s name as Alexandrina Sofia Blount. Sofia's full name is Alexandrina "Sofia" Wellesley, but she does not use Alexandrina. Blount is the real, and more aristocratic, spelling of her former Cavalry officer husband’s surname.
