Angelina Jolie has been named as one of five "remarkable" women who will guest edit BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour over the next week. The actress will explore the refugee crisis in the lead up to World Refugee Day in a show due to be broadcast on 17 June.

She joins an eclectic mix of women who have been invited to participate in the Woman's Hour Takeover week between 13-17 June. Great British Bake Off judge Mary Berry said she "jumped at the chance" to guest edit a show, while footballer Eniola Aluko, Scottish poet Jackie Kay and author Sunetra Gupta will also edit episodes of the radio series.

Woman's Hour editor Alice Feinstein said each guest editor would bring "their own curiosity and unique insights" to the show, when announcing the news.

Indeed Angelina is a fitting choice to discuss the refugee crisis; the actress works as a special envoy for the UN Refugee Agency and is a vocal political campaigner.

Recently her passion and expertise has seen her named as a visiting professor on a new Master's degree at the London School of Economics, which will begin in September.

Angelina will join former foreign secretary William Hague as one of four visiting professors at the university's Centre for Women, Peace and Security, and said she was looking forward to sharing her experiences of working as a special envoy for the UN Refugee Agency with her students.

"I am very encouraged by the creation of this master's programme. I hope other academic institutions will follow this example, as it is vital that we broaden the discussion on how to advance women's rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict," Angelina said in a statement.

"I am looking forward to teaching and to learning from the students as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations."
